Obstetrics
Congratulations! Pregnancy is an exciting time, and we are proud you have chosen us to care for you! At Women’s Health Center of Dickson, you will find experienced, board certified physicians backed by a wonderful team of skilled professionals committed to providing quality care that surpasses your expectations.
Management of your Pregnancy: We will see you monthly during your pregnancy until about 28 weeks, then every two weeks until about 36 weeks, after which we will see you weekly until you deliver. You will have two ultrasounds: at your first visit (for dating purposes), and at 20 weeks (to look at fetal anatomy). More ultrasounds may be ordered depending on issues that arise during your pregnancy. You will have routine bloodwork at your first visit which determines bloodtype, checks for anemia, and looks for chronic disease and other things. We will offer you genetic testing and a pap smear as well at that visit. We will test for gestational diabetes at 24-28 weeks, and perform a group B strep test at 36 weeks. We will have you pre-register at 36 weeks with Horizon Medical Center in Dickson. Inductions of labor are scheduled electively after 39 weeks, and prior to that if medically indicated.
If you have a question or problem: Please call the office and press the number for the nursing line. If you have an issue after hours that needs immediate attention, please call Horizon Labor and Delivery and a nurse will be available to take your call. For any emergency, please go straight to Horizon Medical Center Labor and Delivery. Please remember, the smaller ERs and hospitals in our area (including TriStar Natchez ER) do not have an ob/gyn to evaluate you, and you may be transferred to Horizon Medical Center by ambulance for further care if needed. Reasons to notify us include fever, vaginal bleeding, serious falls, absent or markedly reduced fetal movement after 28 weeks, regular contractions before 34 weeks, and any leaking or loss of fluid.
